new food

Grayden started cereal a couple weeks ago and I just had to post these cute pictures of the first time in his new highchair and his first attempt at eating rice cereal...they are just too cute!

as you can see he just wasn't so sure about it at first, but now he is doing great and its been so much fun to move onto this next step!

And just one more picture to share!
This is from our recent trip to Detroit. We went there for a couple days last week with my parents for Robb and my dad to attend some conferences and meetings there.
Here are my boys before their "Young Executive Training" Class!

our 2nd camping trip and my b-day

Last weekend our family left for Silver Lake to go camping again. Our friends Jason and Jessica and their daughter Emma were there camping with us. We left Thursday evening once Robb got home from work. Once we got there we set everything up and had a bon-fire like we did everynight.
Friday (my 24th birthday!) we headed to the sand dunes and spent an hour riding around and playing in the sand
UNTIL
Robb's Jeep suddenly wouldn't start up....so the rest of that day and most of the evening was spent trying to repair whatever it was that was wrong with it! After several hours the boys took a break and we headed out for my birthday dinner! Once we got back , it was back to working in the Jeep, in the dark (they used rope lights from the camper as lighting!)
Here are the "shade tree mechanics" as Robb called themselves:
I guess that means hillbilly?!? loland to all our surprise..it started up just as I was about to beg them to give up! We celebrated by walking to go get ice cream! Yeah!

**Despite the unfortunate fate of the Jeep and the day's alternate plans, I had a GREAT birthday, in fact it was the best one yet. I got to spend the whole day (starting at 5 am when Grayden woke up for the day, yikes!!) with my husband and baby boy, both whom I love so so much and thank God for EVERY day! I have been so blessed this year! **

Saturday we crossed our fingers and took the new and improved Jeep back out in the dunes for a while, and it went great, phew!

Jason's Jeep on the other hand, didn't fair so well this time, what are the chances?! Other friends of ours had also come up for the day to spend some time in the dunes and relax around the campground. The best part of that day was when Jessica surprised me with birthday cake AND ice cream!

We had a great time!

Labor Day Weekend!

We started off our long weekend on Friday night by taking our church's middle schooler's on a "Mystery Tour" to kick off the start of youth group! We went pool hopping and then came to our house for a giant slip and slide, pizza, games and we also watched the movie "Horton Hears a Who" (which is a really cute movie by the way) projected against the side of the barn! It was so much fun! And I think the kids had fun too!
On Saturday we went to my parents cottage and spent some time tubing and boating with some friends!
Sunday we headed to Shipshewana, Indiana with my whole extended family. We went swimming and spent some time relaxing in the hotel. It was Grayden's first time staying in a hotel and he did excellent!

Monday we went to the flea market and searched for treasures!
Here are some pictures of our weekend:

weekend catch up

A little recap of how we spent the last weekend in August :( Summer is almost over already?
Starting with Thursday night we went to the Hudsonville Fair and watched the Tractor/Truck pulls (notice Grayden dressed accordingly!) and walked around some of the animal barns. It was kinda rainy but we had so fun!

Friday night Robb took me out for my birthday b/c we are busy the next few weekends so I got to celebrate early! We went to Olive Garden and watched The Proposal....so funny! I loved it! That was the first time Robb and I went away {just the two of us} without Grayden so it seemed good (and a little weird!) to spend some alone time with my wonderful husband again. Thanks Mindy and Kyle for babysitting!

Saturday night we went to some friends house for dinner and Avery and Grayden got to play! Aren't they cute?
SO fun! Thanks Ryan and Lydia for a great meal and fun fellowship!
Sunday we went with the whole Lubbers gang to the Detroit Tigers game! It was a great game...very exciting! They beat the Rays 4-3! Grayden did Grrr-eat! (like the Tony the TIGER says....get it?? haha! I thought of that myself!...never mind!) It was a beautiful day, the perfect way to wrap up the end of August.
