Love-Love for my Man!

Friday, July 29, 2011

Robb played in a tennis tournament last week and won both of his matches (they’re called matches right, honey?)! Tuesday was the final match and we were all there to cheer him on!

Sadler’s tongue, spine, and kidney

Friday, July 22, 2011

At Sadler’s 2 month well check up his pediatrician confirmed my suspicions that he was tongue tied. It never affected his feedings but he definitely is tongue tied which could later interfere with speech or eating as he gets older. We decided to take him to an ENT to get it clipped. We also had concern over a patch of hair on his bottom that can be a sign of spina bifida. Our pedi suggested we take him to get an ultrasound to ease our minds about it.

Later that week he had his appointment with the ENT, I hated to think about him having his tongue clipped but I geared myself up and was ready to get it over with. Turns out Sadler was too strong and had too much head control for the doctor to feel comfortable clipping it in the office without anesthesia. We decided to wait and do the procedure under anesthesia when he is older.

A few days later I took Sadler to the hospital for his spinal ultrasound. After checking in and taking a seat in the waiting room a lady came to tell me they don’t do that type of ultrasound there! Ugh; back home we went disappointed!

The u/s was rescheduled at the children’s hospital the following week.

IMG_2115

We got there and checked in, got seated in the waiting room and waited an hour and a half until we finally got called back, I guess there was some sort of mix-up with the lady to checked us in. At that point Sadler was beyond tired and needed his crib. He was mad! Which didn’t mix well when the tech needed him to sit very still so she could count vertebrae. I finally got him to fall asleep on me and she did the u/s while I was holding him. It was quite the ordeal. Before we left she told me she thought his spine looked normal but she thought she saw some fluid on one of his kidneys that might require a follow up.

A couple days later I got a call from the pediatrician that his spine was fine! Praise God, but he does have Hydronephrosis, fluid on the kidney. She scheduled a vcug procedure for the following week at the children’s hospital that would tell us if his bladder is refluxing his urine back into the kidney.

This time I took Robb with me, friends of ours had to bring their daughter to the same procedure when she was just a couple weeks old and we heard it was pretty awful. Of course all went smooth as butter this time, we had no wait and Sadler did AWESOME during the yucky procedure! What an answer to prayer!

IMG_2248

The tech told us right away that she didn’t see any reflux and our pedi confirmed that a couple days ago.

Now we will take him to a urologist in late August for further testing to see if they can determine the cause of his hydronephrosis.

Sadler Graham, You are 3 months old!

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

3 months! You are growing way too fast, gone are your newborn days :( but its been so fun to watch your little personality grow these past few weeks!
IMG_2374
Here’s what you’ve been up to:
You roll over from belly to back!
You still sleep about 8-9 hours at night and you’ve napped for 3 hours the last couple days!
IMG_1979
You drink 5 oz every 3 hours, and boy are you growing! You’re finally getting some chunk to other areas than just your cheeks :)
You are still swaddled when you sleep
You like your paci at times and other times not.
IMG_2268
You are NOISY! You jabber so loud and get so excited!
You wear mostly 3 month size clothes and size 1 diapers.
IMG_2224
You are starting to grab for toys in the last couple days and have lots more interest in playing with them!
You have been much more content lately, you can be happy in other places other than in my arms!
IMG_2137
You tried out your bumbo seat for the first time yesterday, you loved it and look so big in it!
IMG_2354
IMG_2365
You constantly have your hands in your mouth, lots of drool.
IMG_2216
You’ve had a busy month of doctor’s visits, more on that later.
You are SO cute! I must tell you that a million times a day! I can’t get enough of you Sadler, I love you!

Love,
Mom

“Every blessing you pour out I’ll turn back to Praise”

Sunday, July 17, 2011

This morning we had the joy of having Sadler baptized in church.

Baptism is such a meaningful occasion for our family, one where we make a promise to God and the church that we will raise him to the best of our abilities to live a Christian life.

We sang Blessed be your Name at the beginning of the service, that song always brings tears to my eyes. I belted out the words as best I could all while covering my sweet son’s head with kisses while he snuggled in close to me. The song reminds me to be joyful in all times and I think back to those days when that was so hard to do. The bridge part of the song says “you give and take away, you give and take away, my heart will choose to say Lord, Blessed be your name!” I so badly wanted that to be true in my life for many many months, to choose to give him glory in our suffering, when he took our first son, but it was hard. Now, 3 years have gone by and He gave us 2 more sons its been easier to sing that and mean it.

God taught us so much through the loss of Brenham, one being how blessed we are to be given such precious gifts, children. I often wonder if I would be the same kind of mother I am today if we hadn’t lost him. God taught me to cherish these boys for as long as we are blessed with them. Children are not owed to us, they are gifts from God.

Another line in the song goes “every blessing you pour out I’ll turn back to Praise” and I pray that to be my life’s song, the reason that I live; I want to give God all the Glory for the good things he has given! Thank you God for Sadler, what a joy he is to our family. We give him to you Lord and ask you to bless our family and guide us as we raise him in your ways.

After the service we had our families over to celebrate with lunch and cake.
