Today's agenda!

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

We started today off bright and early at the lab where they drew 11 viles of blood! We're chilling at the cafeteria now until I meet with the doctor at 7:45am (central time). The boys are having breakfast (they have the best omelets) and I'm not allowed to eat until after my biopsy. I'll have my kidney biopsy at 9 which will take up the remainder of the morning. At 4:30 I have a bone density test and I'm done for the day unless I try to reschedule some of tomorrows tests for today.
The kidney biopsy is a routine test I do every year, they numb up the area with anesthetic and place a needle about the size of a pencil eraser into the kidney and grab a tiny piece of tissue to examine under the microscope. They do that 3 or 4 times to make sure they have a couple good samples. They are looking for any scaring of the kidney or any recurrence of the disease my old kidneys had. We are praying they find neither. I've been feeling great so we have no reason to believe they will find anything but I still get nervous! We'll know the results at my final appointment tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks so much for your comments, I have lots of down time just waiting around for appointments so I love to read them!

Good luck!! :0)
Question though, is there no worry that them doing several biopsies a year will cause scarring in itself if that is what they are looking for?
Glad you are feeling better and hope the day goes quickly for you!

Praying for you on this day--medical tests can be the pits, but it sounds like you have a couple of great guys there to support you! And so sorry you missed out on the great omlettes... maybe you could talk those great guys of yours into taking you out for a FABULOUS dessert tonight.
