want to help me?

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

I was laying in bed, trying to sleep when I came up with this great idea.
Some of you have already offered to help make baby hats for the hospital Brenham was delivered at (thank you!) and I decided that it would be such an awesome way to honor Brenham's birthday by bringing a big basket of baby hats down there on his birthday. And what better way to get lots of help than by this blog?!? I need your help. If you can knit, crochet, sew or anything and have the time to make a hat, booties, or a blanket (or two, the more the merrier!) to help us recognize Brenham we would be absolutely honored.
You can make whatever pattern you want in any size or any color, and send it to me by the end of next month and I will drop them all off at the hospital on his birthday. Or if you have something else you would like to donate, you can do that too.
Brenham has so many special people that love him and we want you to be a part of this! You can email me at katielubbers@hotmail.com if you want to participate or have any questions! And thank you for honoring our precious son in this way!

~And I am making progress on my project, thank you all for your help and suggestions!~

I did this the week of thanksgiving to honor Brooke and Alexcyn and to say thanks to the hospital staff that helped us out so much. I had a friend make 2 blankets but she sent them a week late, so I would love to give you the blankies and make a sweet treat for the hospital staff as well. Will email you to arrange a drop off time.

Katie,
I would love to help out, but I can't sew :( Do you think the hospital would accept "no-sew" blankets? These are the kind that are made of fleece and have the knots all around... I can make those. I would love to participate.

Are you looking for premie size stuff?

Kate @ When Hello Means Goodbye said...

thanks for all the questions! Any size would be fine, i have a special place in my heart for the premie size, so most of mine will be smaller but you can do whatever. and feel free to use whatever skills you have, the fleece tied kind of blankets would be cute too!
Or if you want to do something entirely different, like teethers, books, whatever it doesnt have to be hand made. Have fun!
I am so excited that you want to be a part of this!

oh and if you want to contribute to the project somehow, but for any reason can not, there IS a way you can help us spread the word! that is greatly needed as well. If you have a blog, you can link to this post, or grab a button that is in the works of being created for your side bar.If you dont have a blog or even if you do you can just pass along the idea to friends, family and co-workers!

Hi Katie,
I have made several hats for an organization that is called Stitches from the Heart. They have some patterns on their website for knitting and crocheting preemie hats and blankets. http://www.stitchesfromtheheart.org
The last ones I made were in memory of Brenham. :) Hope this helps! Let me know if you would like help with crocheting, I'd be glad to show you.

I was given this link from Katie at A Listmakers Life after she saw a crocheted item on my blog. I would love to contribute - I will be emailing you tonight once I have gathered myself. Your story touched me so deeply. Brenham is so lucky that he has a mommy who continues to shine for him.
