As I mentioned last week, Robb and I spend the weekend in Traverse City for a little 'baby
moon.' We had a fabulous time!
We dropped the boys off by my mom shortly after noon and we were on our way!
We arrived in TC around 3:00 and checked into our hotel, we stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
After unloading our bags we headed downtown for a little shopping.
We loved the Cherry Republic store! The samples served as a nice appetizer! and we found some goodies to take home too!
Had to get a souvenir for baby L on our babymoon!
After shopping we grabbed dinner at Red Mesa, a Mexican restaurant
and then headed to Moomers for ice cream
where I met up with my online friend Corinn!
It was such a joy to meet her in person!
Saturday morning we had a light breakfast in bed and then hit the road for a scenic drive through northern michigan.
It was a beautiful drive and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!
We stopped in the towns of Leland, Northport, Omena and Suttons Bay.
Lunch outside at The Cove was one of our favorite meals!
The beaches were so quite and peaceful!
Traverse city people, I learned, are baby bump obsessed! I had 6 people comment on the baby bump, where as here I've not had one comment from a stranger! Funny!
On the way back to our hotel we stopped for fudge at one of the local shops and the man working told us about the salmon harvest that was just starting, so we had to check that out too.
It was quite interesting, the salmon were huge!
For dinner that night we went to the Mackinaw Brewing Co, and enjoyed the best mushroom appetizer I've ever had and a delicious dinner too!
We had to stop for dessert downtown at the cutest little fro-yo shop ever! We couldn't resist this warm apple cobbler! Yum!
As you can see vacations are always all about the food for us! There were not enough meals in the day to try out all the different restaurants we wanted to!
Sunday morning we checked out of our hotel and grabbed breakfast at The Omelette Shoppe, again so good! And then headed for home!
Huge thanks to everyone who took great care of our adorables while we were away!
We had the best time! Can't wait to go again!

Oh I am so happy that you had a great TC Babymoon! You stopped by where we had our engagement pics taken (Northport), where we used to stop after church to watch the fish jump (downtown TC) and most importantly you finally got to meet Cor face to face! Hip hip hooray - your next trip will have to be as a family of 5 ;)
Successful TC trip! I love seeing our area through the eyes of visitors. :) Glad you had fun!
Would you recommend the Grand Traverse? Did you feel like it was close to everything? Looks like you had a great weekend!
I have been reading your blog since the beginning...was pregnant when you were with Brenham. It is amazing how connected you feel to someone you have never met! My point being I am sooooo happy for you. The moment where you hold your child for the first time after working so hard to deliver them is amazing...so glad you are getting to experience that in a "less stressful" and more joyful time. You have a little angel in heaven watching over you for sure!
It's definitely not as close to everything as other hotels but it was fine. We didn't mind driving and hardly spent much time at the hotel anyways, other than sleeping!
When we go again tho, we'll probably stay somewhere else.
Thank you so much MB, your comments always make me smile!
We are so blessed and can't wait for this little miracle to join our family!
In the meantime, I'm trying to relax and enjoy every moment of this pregnancy!
Hugs!
So glad you had a nice, time. You hit up a ton of my favorites as my sister said. The Cove is the best, you definitely picked the right places to eat. Praying for you as you continue on through your pregnancy. You do have a special glow about you, so happy for you guys!
Looks like a wonderful vacation spot. I need to add it to my list of places I want to one day go. Glad you all had fun and that all is going well.
Great pictures - what a great weekend away for you two! :) We just ventured up that way on our trip the island...definately want to go back next summer and spend some more time up there. So blessed to live in such a beautiful state thats only a few hours drive away!!!! In other news, I can hardly wait to meet baby L. seriously, I am over the top thrilled for you guys!!!!
I'm jealous of your pictures! What a great getaway!!!
It's been a couple years since we've been up that way. I have a friend that lives on Torch Lake and gosh I love the pictures she sends! Never a bad view. We never stay in TC when we go. For anyone thinking of visiting out that way... our last stay was at Shanty Creek {Summit Village/Lakeview Hotel} which was perfect and quiet.
