Forever Day

What a special day it was yesterday! Our families joined us at the courthouse to witness and testify (they really all had to come up to the podium to say something!) our love for Grayden as he became an official member of our family! We are so glad they were all able to come and share in this special event!
It ranks right up there with one of the best days of my life!

The white bear and the book was a gift from our adoption case worker and the brown bear was from the judge!
he also gave everyone a mini gavel
After we left the courthouse we had everyone over to our house for some goodies and punch. Grayden changed into his party attire!
We made salt dough ornaments to hand out as party favors!
We ended the day with a movie in bed. We watched Grayden's new Veggie Tales movie "You are Special" How very true that is!

It's a BIG DAY over here at the Lubbers house! Grayden's adoption is being finalized this afternoon! What a great Christmas gift!

Grayden Robert, you are 7 months old!

Grayden Robert,
You turned 7 months old on Saturday!
We said our final goodbyes to your Great Grandma W at her funeral and burial in the afternoon, you did super good. At night we celebrated your 7 month birthday by doing a little shopping and having dinner at Applebee’s.
Here’s what you’ve been up to:
*You have been crawling like crazy and get faster and faster everyday! It’s so much fun to watch you explore and learn.
*You pull yourself up to stand on everything!
*You pull yourself up to stand on everything!
*You can wave and give kisses and even ‘give five’ when we’re lucky!
*Mommy gave you your first haircut.
*You wear mostly 6 month clothes and size 2-3 diapers but once this pack is used up you’ll be into size 3’s!
*You weigh 19 lbs.
*You eat 5 bottles a day and love your baby food that mommy makes you….you eat like such a big boy!
*You started drinking from a sippy cup this month but prefer your bottle.
*You sleep from 9:30 pm-8:30 am and usually get up at 3:30 for your paci and 5:00 for a bottle but you always fall right back asleep.
*You (usually) take a 1.5 hour morning nap and a 2 hour afternoon nap and sometimes another 30 minute cat nap after dinner.
*You are such a good boy, you hardly ever cry and when you do its because you are either hungry or tired.
*You don’t have any teeth yet but we think they’re coming soon
*You met Santa and sat on his lap, you were fascinated with him!
*We celebrated your first thanksgiving which was so special for us, we are so thankful to have you in our lives, Grayden.
We love you so much and look forward to another great month with you!

Grandma W is in Heaven

My sweet Grandma went to Heaven yesterday morning. Visitation is tomorrow evening and the funeral will be Saturday. Thanks for your continued prayers for my family.
We will miss her very much.
I have so many great memories of my Grandma; her and my Grandpa lived just across the pickle field while I was growing up and I know I'll always think of her whenever I have peach pie (hers was the best) or hear people refer to Meijers as "Thrifty Acres" or when I eat at Steak n Shake, or whenever I see a letter opener.
She was a special lady and has blessed many people during her 90 years of life.
I know she celebrated lots of things in Heaven yesterday; meeting her Savior face to face, re-uniting with her husband and oldest son, meeting her great-grandson (Brenham) for the first time, having no more sorrow or pain and celebrated her youngest daughter (my mom's) birthday.
What a day, what a glorious day it must have been.

The Hunt
We found "the perfect tree"
We took this tree home and put it on our porch and used an artificial one for our actual Christmas tree. I wanted the experience of picking out a tree for Grayden's 1st Christmas but I didn't want the mess of the needles all over the carpet so we decided to do the real one outside with some lights and the fake one inside with all the ornaments! Best of both worlds!
