The Night Before Christmas

Sunday, December 27, 2009

We didn't have any family parties on Christmas Eve so we went to see the movie The Blind Side (which I highly recommend) with my family in the afternoon and we had our own little family party when we got home. I made a nice steak dinner and then we got to open presents.

Robb and I don't usually exchange gifts but this year we decided to to change it up and we had 3 gifts for Grayden to open, plus some stocking stuffers. I heard of another family that always gives there kids 3 gifts every year for Christmas b/c that's how many gifts baby Jesus received, so I thought that was a neat idea for our family so we always remember the real reason we give and receive gifts in the first place!!

We all got new jammies for Christmas so once we were done opening gifts we changed into them and snuggled up on the chair while Daddy read "The Night Before Christmas"

Thanks for sharing your special night! That looks like such a fun relaxing time. I love the jammies idea. We always lounge around in jammies as well!

great pics of your family enjoying christmas together...rob and i actually always have our own little christmas on christmas eve, too-- he reads the christmas story and we exchange a gift or two. then christmas morn, we do stockings for each other :)

my mom did 3 gifts for us for 5 or 6 years for the same reason...each of us would get one gold wrap, red wrap, and green wrap, i think. i like that idea a lot.

cute tradition w/ the night before christmas reading...our pastor read 'the night before jesus' on christmas eve, and rob and i are going to get it now b/c it was so neat! check it out!

and we also loved 'the blind side'. really a great story and great movie. it just makes my heart feel so warm and i think "that's what it's all about!"

well, thanks for sharing!

I've heard of that tradition too - I really love it. (and we do Christmas Eve new jammies too), which I think is a fab tradition, so all the kids look cute for Christmas Morning pics!

Merry Christmas to your family!

I love the three gifts idea. My cousin started something like that this year with her newly adopted son. 4 gifts, something to wear, something you want, something you need, and something to read. I wish we had started either one of those when our kiddos were young! Thanks for sharing your Christmas with us!

I have two questions, one why haven't you and your husband exchange gifts before. Second, maybe this is more of a statement but Jesus received three gifts from the wise men but received other gifts from the shepherds.
