My surgery is set for tomorrow at 11:15 am. Please keep me in your prayers that it goes smoothly and for a quick and painless recovery.

blog status: robb and i have decided to keep the blog up and running the way it is at least for now. Switching over to a new site seems like a lot of work and its impossible to pick only 100 readers. And a few criticisers shouldnt be allowed to ruin it for everybody else. So for now, it stays.

But let me just put this out there to ward off rude comments~ this is my blog, i do this for me, not to please you or for attention (who would ask for this type of attention anyways??). if you dont like it, dont read it. you dont have to agree with everything i say or do but please just keep that to yourselves. The grieving process is a personal journey, different for everyone and this is the way i am doing it. No one has the right to tell me i am doing it wrong.

Thank you to the hundreds of you who emailed your invite requests and your sweet words of encouragement. you definitely had a lot to do with this decision. We really value your support.

I'll be praying for you tomorrow Katie. I'm so glad to see that the blog is staying and it makes me ill to think that someone would dare to criticize you or anything you say on here. Good for you for not letting them discourage you. God bless you and your family and you'll be in our prayers.

Katie,
Thanks for being brave and leaving the blog up. It must be hard if there are people being rude. You need to go through this whole process in your own way and your own time.
God bless you as you have your surgery and recovery.

Warning to rude people!! Katie has a LOT of friends who love her very much!! We want to support her in a Christlike way. She doesn't need unsolicited suggestions. I'm sure she and Robb have considered everything possible. God will work in their lives and do his will in wonderful and miraculous ways. We can't even imagine where this is all going.

Most people have been kind from what I've seen, but there have been a few which I've noticed that strike a little nerve in my gut. So I'm sure it would affect a dear heart like Katie in a big way. Don't want to turn Katie's blog into something she doesn't want, like a fighting match! So please don't reply to me and spat about things.

Thanks to everyone who is truly a dear friend and trying to support her in a Christlike manner.

I've said way too much already. Just had to say it.
Love and hugs to Katie and Robb!!
Myrna

I also wanted to say that I believe you blog is a great ministry to others. I think it is just amazing how you have showed people how to struggle with God and still have a good relationship with Him.
You are amazing and I can see Jesus in you.

Katie -- my name is Kate and I've been reading your blog for months but was too shy to comment. I admire you SO much -- I have several progressive/degenerative chronic illnesses and have lost two babies during pregnancy as a result. You are so open, so strong, and so real about everything you go through! I am praying for you SO hard! I have a port myself and I can definitely understand the allure of switching to something else. :-) I wish you the best of everything, and send support and prayers for Robb, too. I know how hard it can be for the husbands/fathers and how often they get left behind. Wishing you both the best! I'm also SO glad that your blog is staying -- way to go on ignoring the negative voices!

I'm in Stockholm, Sweden, and stumbled upon your blog just now and started reading about your life and experiences. I was touched by your faith in God and continued reading the more recent blogs, and realized that your surgery was scheduled for today. I wasn't sure where you where from, but somehow I felt compelled to figure it out as I had an urge to pray for you.

So I started looking for your location in order to know the time zone - wound up on Nascars website to check their race schedules and saw that there was a race in Michigan the date mentioned in your blog.

So, if you are in Michigan, it just so happened that I stumbled upon your blog 15 minutes prior to your surgery (we're six hours ahead) and had a strong urge to pray for you while listening to the song 'There's a reason' in the background...

God bless!

therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnessess, let us throw off everything that hinders and the isn that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Heb 12:1&2(part).

Katie and Robb;

Just keeping you close in thought and prayer. Thinking of you on this race (this journey). You are so inspiring to so many, touching so many. May your race continue with perseverance and always looking to Jesus for all the right answers.

Loving you both...

Not sure what kind of rude comments you've been getting, but I'm sorry it's happening. Good for you for standing up to narrow-minded, cruel people. Your blog is an inspiration to a lot of people, and I think it's great that you're keeping it public.

You're in my prayers during the surgery and recovery. Best wishes always.

From one fellow griever to another, you said it all when you said, "The grieving process is a personal journey, different for everyone and this is the way i am doing it. No one has the right to tell me i am doing it wrong."

Not until someone has walked in the valley of the shadow of death do they have any idea of the grieving process. We are all made unique, individually different from anyone else in the universe. The grieving process is also uniquely different for everyone.

Thanks for being willing to educate others on the grieving process. Your blog is a heartfelt journey of grief and conflict and shows your firm foundation in God, even when you are questioning Him, which is a natural part of the grieving process.

Prayers and best wishes for your physical and emotional recovery in all of this.

Thanks for keeping the blog open, Katie. I know that people can be rude and selfish in posting comments, and I'm sorry that they feel it necessary to make this blog about themselves. I pray for you often, and I do hope your surgery today went well. Keep your spirits up.

I stumbled across your blog from the nest...I just had to say what strength, courage, and love you musth have in your life. I struggled some with fertility and my own health but what you are going through is unimaginable. I pray every day that my current pregancy continue to be a happy, healthy one resulting in a full-term healthy baby. I cannot imagine what you went through but admire you so much for just being able to continue to get up and face each day. You are in my prayers.

Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms. Psalm 68:19

I'm glad to see that the blog will be staying as is because it is truly an inspiration to me. I can't believe that anyone would criticize or be rude when your message is filled with such strength and spirituality. You are going through the grieving process with such grace & dignity. God bless you & your family as you recover!

I'm so glad I will still be able to access your blog and that you can continue to gain new readers and inspire them as you have inspired so many already.

I'm praying for you today as you go through your surgery and will continue to pray through your recovery.

I can't imagine what kind of person would leave rude or discouraging remarks. You are a beautiful person and I commend you for not letting their negativity get you down.

Maybe you can moderate your comments and also you can make it so anonymous people can't write things, maybe this would help with those people that think they know everything!

I have been reading your blog since the article in the Holland Sentinel. I just wanted to know that my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family everyday. I hope things go well with your surgery, and I am glad that you are keeping the blog. God Bless!

Hi Katie,

I'm so glad to learn that you're keeping the blog open for everyone to read. I've never allowed comments on my own blog, for fear of nasty remarks from people I don't know!

You and Robb are an inspiration to so many people, and have the respect and love of great family members and friends. Please don't let the few cruel, miserable souls out there overshadow the good wishes and support of the other 99.99 percent of us.

Take care!
