We just got back from a fabulous Spring Break trip. We surprised the kids with a Disney Cruise that we'd booked over a year ago, it was a hard secret to keep, and stopped in Kentucky on our drive back home to visit the Ark Encounter.
We left at 3:00am Friday morning to start our drive (our plan was 4:00am, but Robb and I were so excited we couldn't sleep, so we got a head start!)
The ship didn't leave until Sunday, but we wanted to give ourselves lots of time to get there to break up the long drive.
way to go Robb, keeping your eyes on the road!
I packed breakfast, lunch and lots of snacks in hopes of making as few stops along the way as possible, but alas, we had a (false alarm) potty stop about 3/4 of the way through Indiana. :)
It was nice to stretch our legs and top off the fuel tank, too!

We got to Dalton, GA around 1:45 where we had a hotel booked.
We found a couple of great parks for the kids to play in and burn some energy, grabbed dinner at O'Charley's and got to bed early.
And leave it to me to get an injury on a road trip! I had to ice a pulled muscle in my shoulder that I got from passing a sucker back to a kiddo behind me in the van, oye! :)
We left again at 7:00am Saturday morning after grabbing a quick breakfast at the hotel to take on the go. The whole time leading up to the trip we had only told the kids that we were going to the Ark, so they were very shocked, and it total disbelief when they got this surprise phone call later that morning (perfect timing as we were stuck in traffic at the time) from Mickey and Minnie welcoming them aboard!
Saturday we drove to Ocala, Florida and got to our hotel around 3:00pm
The kids enjoyed some time at the pool, we had dinner at Zaxby's and relaxed in our room until bedtime.
Sunday morning was cruising day! We had another 2 hours to drive to Port Canaveral.
We got to the port around 8:30am and got a great view of the Disney Wonder!
We had to wait awhile to board.
We did our best to keep busy with the help of Mickey and Goofy, and the time went by quickly.
I had to get in some social media time while I could :) We were unplugging once we set sail!

We were on the ship by 11:30 and ready to start sailing!
....more to come....

My sister and her family just went on that cruise in January! So much fun to compare your experiences!
We went on the Wonder in early March with some friends for our SB! But we live an hour away from Port Canaveral so our trip was much less arduous- we went to church the morning we boarded!
Oh I'm so jealous! How nice that must be!
