i went to the doctor today for a check up, things are still going great! Paco's happy in his new home and still working well! Mindy and I and the hubbys are heading back to Mayo on January 4 where we will stay for 3-4 days. i'm thinking Mindy will have a few routine blood/urine tests and the same for me along with another ultrasound to check on that little pocket of fluid i had around Paco (hoping that is gone now) and a needle biopsy to check for recurrence of the disease. little nervous about that but all is in His control right? I've started doing hair again and quickly getting back into the swing of things, life is normal again! Praise God!

i dont have this shirt, but am totally thinking about getting it, in another color!!

what do you think?
it would definitely promote organ donation!

speaking of that.......
have you decided to give the gift of life by donating your organs and tissue? If you have or plan on doing it, please leave a comment and let me now!
If not, I would like to encourage you to do so. and here's why:

Organ and tissue transplants offer patients a new chance at healthy, productive, normal lives and return them to their families, and friends. you have the power to change someones world by being a donor!!
A new name is added to the transplant waiting list every 13 minutes
An average of 17 people die each day while on the waiting list for an organ donation.
Your decision to become a organ donor could be vital to someone waiting on an organ or tissue transplant.
Its about living.
Its about life.click here for more information on how to donate in your state! do it, do it, do it...you'll get a cute little sticker for your drivers license!

I am registered as an organ and tissue donor. I also "almost matched" a kid that needed marrow a few months ago, and I was really hoping I did. Sisters are great, aren't they? Good luck and take care.

I am an organ donor. Once I am gone, I won't need them anyway. I would rather help someone else who could carry on a long life.
I love, love, love that shirt. It made me well up with tears.

I'm glad paco is working well for you! I'm praying for good news and safe travels for you and your family when you go back to Mayo. My boyfriend goes to WMU in Kalamazoo and we are always up near GR, do you do hair out of your home or in a salon? :)

I'm not an organ donar but i'm on the bone marrow donation list... I have yet to think about organ donation. My mom said that if something were to happen to me, she would donate my organs :)

Yep! I'm an organ donor. If I no longer need them, then I hope I'm able to help someone (or more than one person) who does need them. I'd consider living donation of a kidney like your sister did if it was someone close to me who needed it with no hesitation.

I'm glad to hear Paco is doing well!

Katie, I'm so glad Paco is doing well (and you and MIndy too!) I have been an organ donor for a long long time. Here in Washington we get a little red heart on our driver's license! :) I have always been of the opinion that I won't need this old body once I'm in heaven so if it can help someone else, then that's great! :)

I registered as an organ and a tissue donor as soon as I got my license... Once I'm gone, I can't take my things where I'm going!!

So glad to hear Paco is doing well!!! And same with Mindy!

I have that cute little heart sticker on my license (John does too)! One time when I had to show my license at a store after paying with credit card, the cashier noticed my sticker and asked how to get on the registry for donating organs...hopefully she did it!

Glad to hear that all is well with Paco!

I'm registered! The day I turned 16 I registered with my licence.

I have always felt that it was a shame for me to "go" with my organs and always wanted someone to have life through my death!

The day I got my license I registered as an organ donor. I'm also in the bone marrow registry, and would donate if I was a match to someone.

As the old bumper sticker says, "Don't Take Your Organs To Heaven ~ Heaven Knows We Need Them Here"

How do you register?

I am an organ donor. 15 years ago, my dad had a kidney transplant that saved his life. He was very very sick when he had his surgery. He is still going strong! 15 years! So needless to say I am signed up to be an organ donor!

I am absolutely an organ donor. I think it's one of the best things that anyone can do. Oh, and I definitely think you should get the shirt! It's awesome :)

I have been following your blog for quite some time, but have never commented...but this post really touched my heart so I thought I'd comment.
As an ICU nurse, I deal with life and death on a daily basis. I myself have made several life bank referals because of patients that have been declared "brain dead" while on the ventilator. There has only been 1 patient whose organs they were able to use, but it really touched my heart to know that because of him, several other people were going to live. Organ donation is an amazing thing and an amazing gift--it's a gift that you can't put a price tag on. If more people were aware of the process and the amazing outcomes, I think there would be more organ donors out there--both living and non living.
Also, my uncle received a kidney transplant about 5 years ago from his son. Watching them go through the process was really special. I am happy to report that they are both doing 100%!
Glad to hear that things at your house are starting to get back to normal. Good luck at the doctors this week!

My husbands aunt had to make the decission to donate her sons organs after a fatal accident. A year later she felt his heart beating in another person's chest - pretty awesome.

I just wanted to say that I dont know you, I found your blog on another friends blog. I stayed up three hours last night reading your blog and all I can say is, WOW. To read about your triumphs and tribulations, your perseverance and through it all your love for God. You are such a strong, beautiful young woman, who doesn't deserve what you have been through, but through it all you never let go of the faith you have in God. I wish you nothing but the best!

I have been an organ and tissue donor since I was 16 and first got my license! I know that someone is out there that can use them well after I am done with them!

I'm so glad that Paco is doing great for you! Also, tell Mindy I have been praying for her fast recovery also.

When I first got my license that was the first thing I did...register for organ and tissue donation. I even carry around a signed consent with witnesses in my wallet. No greater gift can come from my death when that comes than if I am able to save another's life.
