Our quick(er than expected) weekend getaway!

Friday, September 1, 2017

Robb and I had planned a quick getaway to PortHuron/Detroit area a couple weekends ago.

Our plan was to see a movie at the Sperry Moviehouse that a friend of ours spent months and months working on, then spend that night in a hotel, and catch a Tigers game the next afternoon!

Well, as you probably assumed by the title, things didn't go quite as we had planned....

We dropped the kids off at my parents' Saturday late morning and ran a few errands before our 3 hour drive to Port Huron began.

We stopped in Grandville for a delicious lunch at CoreLife Eatery. I'm so grateful for a man who enjoys eating 'rabbit food' with me from time to time :)

Once we made it to Purt Huron we checked into our hotel, freshened up a bit and drove to the lake, and do a little walking downtown.
The bridge to Canada is behind us.

We were so excited to check out the Sperry's Moviehouse and see what our friend Dan had put so much time into renovating!

It was super cool, and modern. When you order food they bring it right to the table in front of the cozy, reclining seats!

We saw the movie "Kidnapped" and about 5 minutes after it finished I got a call from my mom saying Sadler had suddenly gotten sick! We were so bummed to hear he wasn't feeling well, and to miss out on the rest of our weekend plans, but our kids' needs come first, so we made the trek back home to pick them up.
Not the weekend we had planned, but we enjoyed the time together we did have, and we are thankful Sadler was back to normal the next day.
They are just as entertaining as the Tigers, all that was missing was the Cracker Jacks :)
